The reputation of the cryptocurrency industry has taken a hit as FTX and Bitcoin find themselves at the bottom of the 2023 Axios Harris Poll 100. This survey, conducted by Axios and Harris Poll, involved 16,310 Americans and provided intriguing insights into the perception of these two organizations within the crypto space.
FTX, a defunct cryptocurrency exchange, scored a meager 99 out of 100, placing it dead last on the list. This is certainly not a position any organization would strive for. Bitcoin, on the other hand, made its debut on the list at number 93, not faring much better than FTX.
The Axios Harris Poll 100 ranks the top 100 corporations from best to worst in terms of reputation. The purpose of the study, according to Axios, is to “gauge the reputation of the most visible brands in America.” Interestingly, the 2023 survey included two crypto-related entries: FTX and Bitcoin.
Unfortunately for FTX and Bitcoin, the survey revealed that they have poor reputations compared to other well-known companies, landing at the bottom of the list. FTX found itself just above the Trump organization, which is considered the worst visible brand in the nation. Meanwhile, Spirit Airlines, Meta (formerly Facebook), Fox, and Twitter were just a few spots ahead of FTX.
Bitcoin, ranked at number 93, sits below Tiktok and above companies such as BP, Balenciaga, and Family Dollar. It is clear from the survey results that both FTX and Bitcoin have a long way to go in terms of improving their reputations.
To determine reputation, participants in the poll were asked to rank the 100 most recognizable organizations based on nine distinct criteria. This allowed for the calculation of a Reputation Quotient (RQ) score for each business.
The survey was conducted by Axios and Harris from March 13 to March 28, 2023, utilizing the same methodology as in 1999. The top ten brands with stronger reputations than most included Patagonia, Costco, John Deere, Trader Joe’s, Chick-fil-A, Toyota, Samsung, Amazon, USAA, and Apple.
The placement of FTX and Bitcoin at the bottom of the reputation rankings highlights the challenges facing the cryptocurrency industry. It serves as a reminder that building a positive reputation requires trust, transparency, and a strong track record. With this survey serving as a wake-up call, FTX and Bitcoin must take steps to address the factors contributing to their poor reputations if they are to regain the trust of consumers and investors.
In conclusion, the reputation of the cryptocurrency industry takes a hit as FTX and Bitcoin find themselves at the bottom of the 2023 Axios Harris Poll 100. This serves as a reminder to the industry that reputation is crucial and requires attention and effort to maintain and improve.
