Moonbirds, the on-chain parliament of pixelated owls, has begun unveiling its highly anticipated Mythics NFT collection. However, the release will be a slow and gradual process, spanning over 200 days. This cautious approach is likely influenced by the failed Azuki Elementals drop, where 20,000 new PFP NFTs were released in one go back in June.
The Moonbirds Mythics collection, announced in August 2022, has been a year in the making. The project aims to distribute the new NFTs in small batches to better gauge market sentiment and potentially navigate the current NFT downturn. Starting from July 20, owners of both the Moonbirds and Moonbirds Oddities partner collection will begin receiving their new NFTs at a rate of 100 per day.
To qualify for a Mythic egg in the latest drop, nested Moonbirds that have reached diamond status (1 year) are eligible. These eggs will remain dormant until randomly selected during the hatching phase, indicated by a glowing aura. Additionally, owners of Moonbirds Oddities NFTs can participate by burning their original NFT to claim a Mythic egg.
The Proof Collective, responsible for all three collections involved, has started rolling out the first Mythics on July 20. Each day, 50 Mythic NFTs will be randomly selected, allowing owners to hatch their eggs via the Proof.xyz website. In addition, 50 nominated Oddities will also be chosen at random and burned in exchange for a Mythic NFT.
The Mythic eggs will come in three types: Stone (20%), Runic (60%), and Legendary (20%). Legendary holders will have a choice between three Mythics, Runic holders will have two options, while Stone holders will have just one. Unlike the original Moonbirds collection, each NFT in the Mythics collection comes with full commercial rights, limited access to future releases, installations, and experiences, as well as full membership to the Lunar Society.
