Venly and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) have joined forces to create a unique series of NFTs (non-fungible tokens) in honor of the upcoming Basketball World Cup. These digital collectibles will be available on the Web3 SaaS platform starting from August 21, just a few days before the tournament begins on August 25.
The NFTs will represent various aspects of the Basketball World Cup and will be divided into four categories: Fan’s Frenzy, National Pride, Ultimate Courtsides, and Golden Glory. The Fan’s Frenzy NFTs will be entry-level virtual mementos designed to commemorate the event, while the National Pride NFTs will feature 32 unique designs representing different national teams. The Ultimate Courtsides NFTs will focus on significant moments in basketball history, and the Golden Glory NFTs will be exclusive to National Pride holders and will offer additional digital keepsakes from their winning nation.
These NFTs will be available for purchase on the FIBA World Cup NFT Shopify store. Minted on the Polygon network through the Shopify app, they can be easily accessed and stored in a Venly Wallet.
The anticipation for these NFTs is high, as similar digital collectibles featuring pivotal moments from NBA games have previously generated over $1 billion in sales through platforms like Top Shot NFTs. However, it is worth noting that the creator of the collection faced legal disputes regarding accusations of violating US securities regulations.
Nevertheless, the combination of sports, mementos, and blockchain technology in the form of NFTs presents an exciting opportunity to enhance basketball fandom worldwide. These unique digital assets allow fans to own a piece of basketball history while also supporting their favorite teams and players.
As the Basketball World Cup draws near, fans and collectors alike are eagerly awaiting the release of these NFTs, which promise to be a slam dunk in the world of sports memorabilia.
