OMA3 asserts that metaverse portals are the next major technological advancement, similar to how railroads and highways unified physical locations, and how HTTP connected digital databases. These portals can establish connections between different metaverse environments, serving as digital gateways for user transitions between platforms. This will enhance accessibility and user engagement in the metaverse.
The IWPS proposed by OMA3 is a solution to navigate the complex landscapes of the metaverse. Unlike ordinary teleportation systems, the IWPS is designed to enable inter-world travel, allowing users to move among various metaverse platforms. This interconnected network could include popular platforms like Alien Worlds, My Neighbor Alice, and The Sandbox.
